The United Nations (UN) is a organization made up of representatives from almost every country in the world.  The job of the UN is to be the world’s governing body.  That means, it is their job to protect the health, safety, education, rights, and finances of people in every corner of the world.  At the same time, it is the responsibility of the UN to fight terrorism, countries who threaten or bully others, pollution, and scarcity of resources.  When global issues arise, it is the job of the UN to come up with solutions to the problem.

Right now you are within a year (one way or the other) of your 13th birthday and possibly unaware of many of the issues that effect people all over the planet everyday.  Because one day your generation will rule the world, organizations like the Model UN exist.  These organizations train students your age to think about global issues and respond by trying to solve the problems the world might face.
